Product Description
From the Manufacturer
Noise is a Common Problem in Car AudioSometimes no matter how careful you are with an installation, you get a ground loop or just enough alternator whine that you can never just listen to the music. Car audio is a tough environment and even a carefully planned install can wind up with alternator whine. The Key to Noise-Free Car AudioThe Silencer™ was specially designed to greatly reduce ground loops and alternator noise. Just plug it in-line with your current RCA cables. The propriety construction disrupts the loop between the source unit's ground and the amplifier ground resulting in a clear connection. Patented XLN® TechnologyOne of the benchmarks of Monster Cable is high-end sound quality. The Silencer features only the most advanced audiophile parts for a flat frequency response of 20-20kHz ±1dB. It also features XLN® Xtra Low Noise® technology that further prevents unwanted noises from things like the car computer, power seat motors and more. Listen to the sound in your system with The Silencer, not the noise. Installation is Easy. Ideal for Pre-Wired Systems.Connect The Silencer with the arrow on the module following the direction of signal flow (away from the source unit).Monster Turbine® connectors are intentionally a tight fit. Carefully insert and remove the cable from the RCA jack with a clockwise twist for best results. Do not place near power transformers or DC power lines.

Customer Reviews
For some reason, Monster only markets this for use in car systems. However, I needed something to get rid of the "hiss" when I hook up my laptop to my stereo. I have my laptop hooked up to my stereo and TV all the time now, and got rid of cable. The hiss is totally gone. Mainly caused because the sound is coming out of the headphone jack, and going into the RCA connectors. Same thing happens when hooking up an iPod or similar. So I got another one. Definitely worth the money. Though when I bought them, they were VERY hard to find! Grab one!
I installed this device behind the center console of my 99 Honda Civic which was constantly generating an annoying alternator whine which was sometimes unbearable during the silences between songs or at certain engine RPM's.
Immediately after installing this simple in-line device, the alternator whine was no more.
Would recommend to anyone with any ground loop or alternator whine issues.
