Customer Reviews
Kit installed fairly easily initially, but continue to have problems with the coil. Upon completing the installation ; trying to fire the tractor up unsuccessfully, I did some further checking ; realized I wasn't getting a spark to the spark plugs. After further investigation ; research on the Internet, I did some inspection ; discovered that the helical spring on the bottom of the new coil stuck out about 3/16" less than the old coil so the new unit was never making contact with the distributor. I attempted to pull the spring out and the very tail end of the spring broke off. I had to re-bend the end of the spring and now it constantly wants to push to the side, shorting the coil to the distributor case. I am still fighting this battle as I write this review and am contemplating just buying a new coil.
Additional minor issues include the wire from the alternator to the ammeter being about 3" too short.
Lastly, the kit came with a spare pulley for the front side of the alternator for a larger belt size. My tractor takes the larger belt, which comes with the kit, but the smaller pulley came on the alternator, so I had to switch pulleys. No big deal except the nut holding the smaller pulley on was so tight, I twisted an allen wrench off trying to loosen the nut. Fortunately, my 2nd allen wrench held up ; I was able to get it switched.
Works well, directions could have been a little clearer, alternator has a tendency to vibrate loose, but overall I'm satisfied.
